Andrew Adelman Organizes and Moderates “A Conversation with Judge Ana C. Reyes”

On November 6, 2023, the D.C. Bar Litigation Community and the Federal Bar Association D.C. Chapter hosted “A Conversation with Judge Ana C. Reyes,” an informal Q&A with one of the District’s newest Federal jurists, before an audience of practitioners, court staff, and bar members. Correia & Puth’s Andrew Adelman, a member of the D.C. Bar Litigation Community Steering Committee, helped to organize the event and moderated questions with Judge Reyes.

From 2001 to 2023, Judge Reyes worked as a litigation attorney at Williams & Connolly LLP. During this time, she conducted substantial pro bono work with refugees and organizations that assist them, including the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and Human Rights. In 2016, Judge Reyes won the “Legacy Award” from Unlikely Heroes for her work representing young women escaping persecution and in 2023, she received the “Judicial Leadership Award” from the Hispanic National Bar Association. Judge Reyes was confirmed to the United States District Court for the District of Columbia in February 2023. She is the first Hispanic woman and openly LGBTQ person to serve as a district court judge in D.C.

The event was held at the E. Barrett Prettyman U.S. Courthouse. Judge Reyes spoke about her background, transition to the D.D.C., and practice preferences.
